Coosa River, central Alabama from 4500 ft in IR

Once again the noble and righteous yellow Piper Tripacer hauls the traveling Mojo Eye over the Coosa River for an infrared look on a hazy day. Mad "props" to Pat Griffin for the plane and his shortwing piloting skills.

I keep hoping someday to have a chance to do this on a sunny day for maximum IR effect. But the difference in lighter hardwoods and darker pine trees is still quite clear in these shots. Water is dark unless reflecting bright clouds from the sky.

Alabama Power Company coal- and natural gas-fueled generating plant near Wilsonville. Coal is very absorptive in IR. The 1/30 second exposure caught the right-hand stack strobe lights flashing on.
