Infrared CloseupUsing the Mojo Eye in NightShot mode, I moved in very close on the grass and weeds. This is *part* of what came out. I'm not going to show the random blurs. You think I'm gonna give away my techNIQUE????
With a bright sun directly overhead, the IR coming from foliage at all angles makes the scene almost look like ice. (April 2003)
As usual, the NightShot pictures came out with the monochrome green tint. I processed these as follows: 1) Create a duplicate layer. 2) Tint that layer with a color. 3) Tint the underlying layer a different color. 4) Go back to the top layer, and blend the layers so that the higher the brightness level, the more opaque it is. In PaintShop Pro that's done with the Layer Properties Blend Ranges Tab. This routine is similar to methods described on the Web for synthesizing Duotones. Then a little cheating for the top picture. Since it is a lady bug, I just erased the blue layer from its image leaving the underlying red. Returns a bit of normality to the weird IR world I've been sucked into.
